My side of the family has dark brown hair and brown eyes and I have Dark Brown close to black hair and brown eyes. What are the odds that my child will come out with red hair? Okay, I will be the first to admit that I might be very wrong, but I've always heard that dark eyes and dark hair are dominant traits.

I think your child will PROBABLY come out with dark hair and dark eyes, even if it's later on. A lot of babies start out as blondes and then their hair gets darker as they get older. My ex-husband was a tow head as a young child--I mean practically WHITE blonde hair--but as he got older and grew into adulthood, his hair became more of a light brown.

Eye colour is impossible to tell which it will end up but generally in the womb all caucasian babies have blue eyes till they come out and their eyes are exposed to the sun which causes it to change to a more permanent colour. as with hair brown is more dominant then red so you can probably expect a child with brown hair however theres always a chance.
