Yes, red hair dye does fade rather quickly. Try to not wash your hair too often - maybe 2 or 3 times a week and don't use conditioner. To stop it from fading too fast, try John Frieda's Luminous Color Glaze for red hair. It worked really well for me and it's available at Wal-Mart, plus it's not too expensive. Also, get some shampoo that helps preserve hair dye.

Yes, put some of the hair dye in your hair conditoner every time u condition. dont wash ur hair to much and when u do use cold water. start using baby shampoo( its less harsh)

there are shampoos that are designed for colored hair to help it retain the color ..... if it's a semi permanent hair color or rinse, it won't last that long.... if it's permanent it should hold 4-6 weeks..... and the more you wash it, the faster it will fade

red does tend to do that. try washing your hair with cold water instead of hot and wash it only a couple times a week.

Red color molecules are larger than any others, and they slip out of the hair fastest. Personally, I use Wella Magma intensive red color for my red panels, but you can only get it with a cosmetology license (it's some hardcore color...not for use by someone not skilled). Belk salons use it...otherwise, all you can do is this...if you have dark hair, bleach it to red, no lighter than orange - NEVER to blonde. The already red base will make it last longer. You can try a pigmented shampoo..like Paul Mitchell colors shampoos. All salon quality shampoos are color safe. Redken Color Extend is my favorite though.

A GOOD IDEA IS TO USE A RINSE ON TOP OF THE DYE. YOU CAN GET IT AT THE BEAUTY SUPPLY STORES, AND ITS NOT EXPENSIVE. ITS NOT DANGEROUS OR DAMAGING TO THE HAIR AS DYE IS AND YOU CAN USE IT AS NEEDED. THE ONLY THING ABOUT IT IS THAT IT RUNS, BUT IT WASHES OUT OF CLOTHING AND THINGS. BUT, IF NONE OF THAT MATTERS TO YOU AND YOU ARE JUST TRYING TO LOOK FABULOUS, GO FOR IT. I PERSONALLY THINK THE RINSE MAKES YOUR HAIR MORE VIBRANT THAN A DYE ALONE, AND GIVES YOUR COLOR A BOLD LOOK.

It only takes like 2 weeks for my mom's dyed hair to fade out. She uses some John Freda line and it seems to work well though. Idk why anyone would want to be a redhead anyways though!

well when i went in to the hair salon i wanted marron red highlights in my dark brown hair she dyed my whole head maroonish red with tiny brwon highlights it was beautiful but not wut i wanted within the first week my hair was almost all faded to a light redish pink i used the color preserver from the salon pantene brillant red and josh frieds red shampoo and nothing worked i eventually redyed my hair baack to just brown so yea it does fade i really wudnt suggest going all red unless u have the time and money to keep it up
