Okay, sit down. I'm going to give you some good advice. I'm a hairdresser. I'm not trying to persuade you to go to one because I am one, I'm trying to persuade you to see one because I know more.

There is no easy way to go from deep red back to light brown. You CANNOT purchase a boxed haircolor from the store and do it. It will be a big mess that will cost you even more to fix than if you'd just gone to a professional in the first place.

Basically, color can't lift color. You have to have the red removed before you can make the hair light brown. You may need to use a color remover or you may need to use bleach. Either way, it needs a person there that knows what they are doing. If you bleach it yourself, it will be uneven and you will have a lot of breakage.

If you can't afford to go to a salon to get your hair done, then here's what I advise:

You can't have lighter hair right now. So, that's out the window. But, you can have darker brown hair. I would go to a beauty supply and ask them for a MEDIUM BROWN ASH semi-permanent hair color. Semi-permanent means it will be less damaging to the hair, but it will cover. The ashy color is important as this will help to cancel the red. (green cancels red.) Don't be afraid, just do it. Make sure you buy plenty of color do thoroughly coat your hair, this is not the time to try and save a few bucks! Use only 10 volume developer. NO MORE! Leave the color on for the full timing.

That should get you through until you can go to a professional.

I very recently used the Loreal hair color product which the whole pack costed like $20(bought it at Kroger) and my cousin did it for me at home and everyone loves how my hair is now, I now have dark brown hair with subtle light brown highlights.

I read the instructions on it and it can be done by ourselves too pretty easily.
