How come every time I dye my hair red, it fades?

It always does! It never fails! The last time I dyed my hair was 2 weeks ago, and this is the longest it has gone without fading. How can I prevent this in the future?

Becuase red is always the first color to leave the hair strand. :You need a red shampoo, or a special color gloss (your shade) and wash your hair a less if possible.

Shampoo and rinse with cold water. Use a shampoo made expecially for colored hair. I have read that red is the fastest fading hair color. It can't be prevented- just delayed.

I was told by a hairdresser that red hair color fades the quickest. You may need to get it colored more often. There are also special shampoos for colored hair.

It's always like that not just the red color. You can use one of the stuff that's in the store so you can keep your color longer!

Due to the pigment size of red- it is the most difficult to get into the hair. Secondly it fades the fastest. Here is what you can do to help- if you need to lighten your base use the permanent color of red only on the roots. Use a semi- perm or the same level and tone of red on the mid shaft to roots. If you just keep running the perm product through your hair YOU are causing the fade-age. The strongest red I know of professionally are Framesi and Schwartzoff. Do not shampoo your hair for 24-48 hours after the color is removed. Use color shampoo for colored hair for the first two weeks. After that alternate in a shampoo with the appropriate red tone in it like Artec. Protect your hair from the sun, tanning beds and over blow drying.

Red hair color is a double standard it is the hardest color to keep in the hair %26amp; the hardest to remove. Red hairdye molicules are larger then any other color molicule so it is harder for the cutical to hold it in... My suggestion is to purchace colored shampoo %26amp; conditioner. These products contain pigment, comes in many colors, so it refreshes the hair and prevents fadage. Aveda had a great one for reds. You can also... if you can bare it, rince your hair with cool water to close up the cutical of the hair %26amp; wait 24 hours to shampoo after your color service.
