I have black hair and I got fire red highlights put in last year and it looked amazing. BUT, let me tell you it doesnt look good for too long. The red fades much faster than any other color. I get it done every 3mths or so and I've given up finally and am going back to my original color this Sunday.

Some of my friends have had the end of their hair colored red. While it does look good, I've seen it fade very fast to brown....

If you have the money to do it ever so often then go for it! Red is one of those colors that stand out especially against black and as a result when it fades the icky color that comes after also stands out!
